The Digital Art and Design Association’s first Animation Jam was a huge success! We’re so proud of everyone who came out and worked on their animation skills!

And Best Story went to Caitlyn McGowan, Cydney Chung, Dale Wu, Sean Goebel, and Alex Lawrence’s group for “Star Maker”
On Friday March 24th at 12 pm in Room 330 of the Art Building, the Digital Art and Design Association will be hosting a workshop on Stop Motion Animation! Come out and learn about the production process!
On Tuesday, March 28th at 7pm the Digital Art and Design Association in collaboration with our LSU ACM SIGGRAPH chapter will be holding a screening of new critically acclaimed animations of 2016. The screening will be held in the theater of the Digital Media Center on LSU’s campus so be sure to come out and have a good time!
On February 17th, at 1 pm in Room 330 of the Art Building at LSU, the Digital Art and Design Association held a workshop instructed by DADA President Kytana Le and Vice President Jabari Newton. Club members learned how to animate by hand in photoshop and flash.
On March 3rd, at 12 pm in Room 330 of the Art Building at LSU, the Digital Art and Design Association held a workshop instructed by Vincent Celluci from CxC on “Creating a Narrative”. Vincent talked to our club members about creating good storylines and plots, what exactly a narrative arc is, and described the pipeline when creating a feature film.
Two upperclassman members of DADA, Jessica Le and Emily Hargis, will be demonstrating the basic functions of Adobe After Effects. This workshop will include a PDF with helpful information, and the opportunity to follow along with the demonstration! If you plan on following along, please make sure to download After Effects ahead of time (if you do not already have it) and also download the images needed for the demonstration here. The Workshop will be held in Room 330 of the Art Building at 1 o’clock PM on Friday February 3rd.
Three TurboSquid employees are offering their time and expertise to our eager Digital Art students! A workshop will be held in room 330 of the Art Building at 12 o’clock PM on Thursday, January 19th. Ben Bickle will be discussing “Low Poly 3D Modeling for Games”, Kate Voisin will be discussing “Form Over Function: Impractical 3D Modeling for Illustrators, and Bob Martin will be discussing “How to Meet Your Deadline Without Going Mad: Efficient Animation for Aspiring Filmmakers”.
All of these talks include valuable information that will be helpful in the upcoming Game Jam (January 20th) and Animation Jam (March 31), so be sure to come out!
